Full course description
This course will help you better understand your responsibilities as someone with access to student, parent, and employee data, as well as help you understand your rights over your own data. You will gain confidence in your understanding of how you can protect kids, families, and employees while still letting everyone do their job. Learning Intentions: -Learners will be able to explain the privacy rights afforded to students and their families under state and federal law. -Learners will be able to explain the privacy rights afforded to employees under state law and board rule. -Learners will be able to describe circumstances under which student data can be shared without parental consent. -Learners will be able to describe the requirements for authorization in cases of sharing with third parties, including edtech products. -Learners will be able to explain how to keep data secure through data minimization, awareness of social engineering, and caution around everyday activities. Course completion will result in a downloadable certificate. In order to earn a certificate, you must pass either the pre-assessment or post-assessment with 90% or higher.
