Full course description
This course is primarily intended for office staff of school districts and charter schools (Local Education Agencies, or LEAs). The course will support office staff in better understanding how records management laws and guidelines helps us determine how long records should be kept, and how they should be permanently stored or disposed of at the end of their schedule. The course also explores the connection between records management, privacy, and security, and how we can encourage a culture of privacy in schools. Learning Intentions: -Learners will understand that storing and disposing of records properly is important to maintaining privacy and security. -Learners will define the following terms: record, record series, and retention schedule. -Learners will know how to find additional information about their local records management policies. -Learners will understand the importance of maintaining a culture of privacy and a “cone of silence” especially in public spaces. Course completion will result in a downloadable certificate. In order to earn a certificate, you must pass either the pre-assessment or post-assessment with 80% or higher.
