The relationship between school administrators and law enforcement officials is critical to ensure that schools are safe and the law is enforced. This course will help you better understand how and when data can be shared between LEAs and LEOs while also ensuring that students’ rights to privacy are protected under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). Learning Intentions: -Learners will be able to explain the requirements for sharing PII with a law enforcement official under the following FERPA exceptions: School Official exception, Health and Safety Emergency exception, and Subpoena and Court Order exception -Learners will be able to explain other circumstances under which PII could be shared with a law enforcement official. -Learners will understand the difference between an educational record and a law enforcement record. Course completion will result in a downloadable certificate. In order to earn a certificate, you must pass either the pre-assessment or post-assessment with 80% or higher.
