Full course description
This course bridges classroom pedagogy and federal policy, equipping educators to foster digital wellness, information literacy, and 21st-century skills. Participants will gain strategies to guide safe online behavior while mastering the legal landscape of Copyright, Fair Use, and the Children’s Internet Protection Act (CIPA). By the end of this training, educators will be empowered to meet compliance standards and champion responsible digital citizenship.

Learning Objectives
Upon completion, learners will be able to:
• Integrate information literacy and 21st-century skills (critical thinking, communication, collaboration, creativity) into instruction.
• Instruct students on Fair Use, Copyright, and ethical online resource use.
• Analyze the role of Acceptable Use Policies (AUPs) and technology filters in maintaining safe learning environments.
Materials Needed
• Device with reliable internet access.
• Access to your LEA’s current Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) and Cell Phone Policy.
Main Assessments
• CIPA Knowledge Check: Assessment on CIPA components, web filters, and E-Rate funding.
• Policy Analysis: Guided review of safety provisions within your school’s AUP.
• Scenario Response: Application of concepts to hypothetical classroom situations regarding copyright or safety.
