Full course description
This comprehensive learning experience is designed for K-12 educators, administrators, and education leaders in Utah. The program aims to equip participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools in the classroom, modernize student experiences, and enhance digital literacy and career readiness. Educators from all over Utah are engaging in the program.
Program Components:

Pre-Work Survey
- Participants complete a survey to assess their current understanding and use of AI in education.

Initial Training (1-hour)
- A focused, one-hour training session introducing key concepts of AI in education.
- Topics may include:
- Introduction to AI and its potential in education
- Overview of AI tools for classroom use
- Safety considerations and best practices

- Self-paced online learning modules covering:
- Exploration of AI tools and applications in education
- Strategies for integrating AI into various subject areas
- Walk-through of how to submit a successful lesson plan

AI-Infused Lesson Plan
- Participants design a lesson plan that meaningfully incorporates AI tools or concepts.
- The lesson plan should demonstrate:
- Clear learning objectives
- Appropriate use of AI tools or concepts
- Alignment with curriculum standards
- Integration of purposeful AI use

Submission of Lesson Materials
- Participants submit their completed lesson plans and any supporting materials for review. Participants will then submit completed lesson plans to DonorsChoose to be awarded grant money.

Post-Work Reflection
- Educators complete a reflection on their learning experience and plans for implementing AI in their classrooms.
This program represents an exciting opportunity for Utah educators to lead the way in integrating cutting-edge AI technologies into K-12 education, fostering innovation, and preparing students for the future workforce. The course will guide educators through learning, exploring, and applying AI-driven strategies, culminating in the submission of a lesson plan that integrates AI tools effectively to be eligible for a $200 grant, while funding is available.
